I initiated this project in the second year of the pandemic, 2021. People in the art world were fond of using Clubhouse, an audio-based online platform, at the time. Those were the most hard times for everyone to survive. For behind-the-scenes art workers, the time during pandemic is just as tough as previous working situations and conditions that were already vulnerable. Apart from the past issue of gaps in opportunity and income as behind-the-scenes workers.
Apa Kabar Para Pekerja Seni? (Hows the Art Workers Doing?) is a safe space to share experiences and concerns of behind-the-scenes art workers in those difficult time as a form of mental support. Anyone can tell about their experiences, share sweet quotes to strengthen each other, and can also share tips and tricks to survive in the uncertain situation. The audiences can even promote their secondary business, whatever its type.
This conversation has happened two times in Clubhouse. I recorded the conversation as an audio archive with the audience’s permission. I realized from these archives that there were various critiques that needed to be discussed further, and even shared to the art public.
