Pekan Kebudayaan Nasional 2023

Jejaring, Rimpang presented a program entitled Kenduri Rasa as part of the curatorial program for Indonesian Cultural Week (Pekan Kebudayaan Indonesia, 2023).
Kenduri Rasa embarked on a series of gatherings involving local residents, acquaintances, experts, academics, and individuals intrigued by the diverse array of flavors, processes, techniques, and socio-cultural dimensions of Indonesian cuisine. This initiative drew inspiration from the recently republished book “Mustika Rasa,” a compilation of recipes from across Indonesia passed down from President Sukarno and reintroduced by the Komunitas Bambu

Exploring traditional culinary practices and food security, Kenduri Rasa conducted research in three distinct regions of the archipelago: Mandar (West Sulawesi), Samosir (North Sumatra), and Timor (East Nusa Tenggara). This endeavor unveiled the intricate social dynamics interwoven within daily kitchen activities, where sociocultural, economic, and geographic influences continue to shape food preferences and social interactions within the community. Beyond culinary pursuits, the research journey also recognized the kitchen as the heart of daily life, where food preparation intersects with energy consumption, resource utilization, and the pursuit of sustainable practices.
