As an arts manager who has worked since 2014, I am responsible for defining work concepts in a project team, organizing work tasks and workers, coordinating, making decisions, and monitoring work flow to ensure that the project or program’s goals are met successfully and efficiently. Of course, I cannot work alone, instead working in a team of various professionals. My experience with numerous projects has provided me with valuable knowledges about how to appreciate the work styles of people from various backgrounds, as well as the dynamics of problems in management work practices. From then, I discovered that an arts manager’s role is more than just organizing and coordinating different types of labor; it is also to be a problem solver and a bridge in the midst of work conflicts related to the team.
